چکیده
Biochar is more and widely recognized as a promising agricultural amendment improving yield ecosystem services in range of different contexts. However, underlying mechanisms contributing to biochars benefits, notably biochar–root interactions, their mediation by biochar's diverse properties remain unclear poorly quantified. This study aimed examine quantify the interactions between biochar plant traits effect on performance. To gain better understanding biochar–plant role overall effects, with contrasted physical chemical were applied soils during 3-month greenhouse experiment barley (Hordeum vulgare L.). Barley biomass well several belowground morphological physiological aboveground related nutrient acquisition measured. A multivariate structural modeling approach was employed traits, feedback biomass. Interactions carboxylate release rate contribution effects underlined. Among examined appears best proxy following addition, highlighting sparsely reported total rates ash content. Multivariate offered elements for complex interconnected involved influence relative contribution. Adopting this across wide species contexts could contribute ensure reliable benefits.

Ecological trade-offs between jasmonic acid-dependent direct and indirect plant defences in tritrophic interactions
Recent studies on plants genetically modified in jasmonic acid (JA) signalling support the hypothesis that the jasmonate family of oxylipins plays an important role in mediating direct and indirect plant defences. However, the interaction of two modes of defence in tritrophic systems is largely unknown. In this study, we examined the preference and performance of a herbivorous leafminer (Liriom...
متن کاملLinking aboveground and belowground interactions via induced plant defenses.
Plants have a variety of chemical defenses that often increase in concentration following attack by herbivores. Such induced plant responses can occur aboveground, in the leaves, and also belowground in the roots. We show here that belowground organisms can also induce defense responses aboveground and vice versa. Indirect defenses are particularly sensitive to interference by induced feeding a...

Hypericum perforatum L. (St. Johns’ wort) is the most commercially important species of the genus Hypericum and contains a wide range of components including naphthodianthrones, phloroglucinols, tannins, xanthones, phenolic acids and essential oil. In order to establish an efficient protocol for regeneration, the effects of explant type and plant growth regulators on direct and indirect shoot r...
متن کاملSoil abiotic factors influence interactions between belowground herbivores and plant roots.
Root herbivores are important ecosystem drivers and agricultural pests, and, possibly as a consequence, plants protect their roots using a variety of defensive strategies. One aspect that distinguishes belowground from aboveground plant-insect interactions is that roots are constantly exposed to a set of soil-specific abiotic factors. These factors can profoundly influence root resistance, and,...
متن کاملDirect and indirect effects of CO2, nitrogen, and community diversity on plant-enemy interactions.
Resource abundance and plant diversity are two predominant factors hypothesized to influence the amount of damage plants receive from natural enemies. Many impacts of these environmental variables on plant damage are likely indirect and result because both resource availability and diversity can influence plant traits associated with attractiveness to herbivores or susceptibility to pathogens. ...
